Crisp's weekly orchid tally, Asher Hall, weeks ending 1 April and 8 April 1923
A pair of pages from the head gardener's tally-book. Columns: bench, variety, plants, inflorescences, condition. Reproduced here for the cymbidium press only.
Week ending Saturday 1 April 1923 (Saturday morning count)
- Cymbidium press, north
- C. asheri (registered plant) — 1 — 9 — first flowering, excellent
- C. eburneum — 2 — 6 — good
- C. lowianum (Maurice cross) — 1 — 0 — vegetative
Week ending Saturday 8 April 1923 (Sunday morning count, the Saturday count having been displaced by the Bishop's visit)
- Cymbidium press, north
- C. asheri (registered plant) — 1 — 8 — one inflorescence short of last week. The shortened stem is the second from the left as the bench is approached. I cannot account for it. The cut, if it is a cut, has not been made at the joint where one would cut. — A.C.
- C. eburneum — 2 — 6 — good
- C. lowianum (Maurice cross) — 1 — 0 — vegetative
Further pencil note, lower margin:
Mrs Asher came into the press at six o'clock Saturday evening and counted to nine aloud. I heard her at the door. I should be very glad if her Ladyship were to count again on Monday.
