Mrs Hester Asher c/o Asher Hall, Steeple-Asherton, Wilts.
Madam, —
We are obliged to address you for the third time concerning the unnamed cymbidium hybrid supplied to your private order at Michaelmas last (our consignment number 4017, the plant in question being a sister-seedling of a registered cross of which we are not at liberty to give particulars). The plant was delivered to the address you furnished in Bayswater on the 29th September 1922, the carrier signing for receipt.
Our terms were thirty days. Six months have now passed. We have written twice, on 7 January and 22 February, to no acknowledgement.
The account stands as below.
- Cymbidium hybrid, single plant, in flower-bud at supply: £45 / 0 / 0
- Carriage, Twickenham to Bayswater: £0 / 14 / 6
- Late interest, six months at 4 per cent.: £0 / 18 / 6
- Settlement requested by return: £46 / 13 / 0
We are well aware, Madam, that the plant was bought against a particular use of which we were given to understand. We shall continue to be discreet upon that point. We must none the less ask that the sum be remitted by the eleventh of this month, failing which the matter passes to our solicitor.
We remain, &c.,
J. F. Bessborough, Manager Bessborough House 2nd April 1923
