8:40 p.m. - Reading room closed. Miss Vale remained in catalogue alcove with blue ledger. Gas left half-up by request.
8:55 p.m. - J. Quill of Brenner & Pike admitted at side door. Said he had left an umbrella after returning the atlas. No umbrella seen.
9:07 p.m. - Mr. L. Brenner admitted through same door. Declined to sign visitors' line; said matter was already entered on bill.
9:18 p.m. - Mr. Brenner and Quill came down west stair. Quill carried empty brown paper. Brenner carried flat portfolio under coat, green tape visible.
9:20 p.m. - Miss M. Saye, returning key 4 from map case, asked whether plate VII was to be recatalogued tonight. Told her no.
9:33 p.m. - Miss Vale asked for C-12 folio. I told her it was marked withdrawn by mildew. She said there had been no mildew when it left.
