Lowbridge Junction telegraph time-signal log, 16 October 1912

Extract from the time-room copy kept by N. Hargreaves, telegraph clerk.

7:15 p.m. Greenwich circuit received clear. Station clock corrected and public striker tested from the railway impulse. One bell, entered as railway time.

7:59:50 p.m. Line warned for the eight o'clock signal.

8:00:00 p.m. Railway time signal received on the north needle. Relay clicked once; public striker answered once. Red mark made at exact time.

8:11:35 p.m. Station tower bell heard again, same tone, but no current showed on the time circuit and the needle did not drop. Local striker only. Public dial visible from the time-room window appeared to stand at VIII.

8:12 p.m. M. Orr called from the down platform that the eight bell had just gone. He did not attend the telegraph mark.

8:14 p.m. Note for stationmaster: do not amend railway log from public dial. There was one railway signal at eight; the later bell was local.

Signed N. Hargreaves.
