Harbor Office tide-gauge slip, 16 February 1908

North Quay staff gauge, storm watch from second bell to dawn, copied into the lock-keeper's book by R. Hale.

Highest water: 4 ft. 10 in. above quay datum at 3:20 a.m. Falling by 3:55 a.m.

Salt Room No. 3 sill: 5 ft. 7 in. above quay datum, checked against the brass threshold plate after last Michaelmas repairs.

No overtopping at the inner lock. No driftwood, weed, or foam above the lower warehouse step.

Lock-keeper's note: water stood below the salt-room sill by seven inches at its worst. South passage dry enough for chalk marks to hold.

Morning round, 6:10 a.m.: threshold dust unbroken except by boot traffic. No tide line on the salt-room door.
