Returned Stores memorandum, 22 February 1908
North Quay Stores return sent back from the quartermaster's desk before entry in the Harbor Relief Board copy.
To L. Ward, stores clerk: your storm-loss return may stand for replacement issue and cookhouse shortage accounting.
The two objection papers from R. Hale and O. Pike need not travel with the Board copy. Mark them local correspondence until the relief issue is cleared, and enter no second schedule unless the Board asks for physical proofs rather than Stores totals.
Cookhouse ration reductions for 17-24 February are authorized against storm loss. Do not reopen the earlier room inventory or call for a fresh barrel inspection while the allowance is already in force.
Ward's copy is to be accepted as the controlling Stores account until relief stock arrives. If questioned, say the excluded papers concern yard and cooper detail outside the loss return.
Signed, M. Rusk Quartermaster
