Shrove Tuesdaye.

  • to ye gate: bisshop's man on horsbacke, gyven ale & a peece of brawne, wuld not lyte downe. asked of ye plate. Dame Sub sayd none of ours was vp at ye almery, all in ye press at vespers.
  • iijd to ye boye Wyll Ridwarde for ye carrot-pitt, fr. my purse.

Ashe Wednsedaye.

  • to ye kechyn: lentyls vj lb. fysshe ij lb. salt fr. ye salt-howse. no flesshe.
  • ye prioress in pryvy: ye great chalys must goe quycke. asked of me whither I had a basket of wortes to spare. I sayd ye redde-wortes wer plenty.
  • to ye boye Wyll Ridwarde, sett to gather ye redde-wortes by ye south wall, jd & his dynner. he did not aske wherfor.

Thursdaye following.

  • to ye kechyn: oates iiij lb. fysshe j lb. (ye pyke smal).
  • at evyn, ye prioress in ye cellaresse offyce with ye great chalys frome ye almery — ye knop in ye foote was loose, she had eased ye pinne with her thumbe. she tooke out ye small thinge therein wrappd in lynnen & sett it on ye table. she sayd: ye sylver & ye gylte goe to Astley & let Sir Iohn doe what he wyll with them; ye wodde is none of theirs.
  • she wrappd ye small thinge agayn & laide it amonge ye redde-wortes, & put wortes ouer it till ye thinge was lost. ye boye is not to knowe; he is to thinke he carries wortes onely & a write note.
  • Memo: ye basket weighd xj lb. by my hande. ye wortes can be no more than v lb.

  • to ye boye Wyll Ridwarde, ob. & a manchet & a peece of cheese for ye rode: sent vpon ye horse-track to Astley with ye basket of wortes & a note seald with ye priorie's bend, to ye kechyn dore of Sir Iohn FitzHardy. cum custodia ligni. he was tolde ye wortes were a gyfte to Mistresse Wodd ye kechynesse. he tooke this for ye trueth & sett out at iiij of ye clock.
  • to ye gate at evyn: ye bisshop's man agayn. asked of ye plate. shewd him ye press; ye chalys not in it. he counted thrice. wrote in his booke.
  • ye prioress at compline, not to me: the boye is gone & ye wodde is gone. ye sylver may yet come backe to a Crown furnace. the wodde wyll not.
