Brown paper sleeve from the cabinet-portrait shelf at Vane Photographic Rooms.
Front:
No. 17. L.O. chair. Do not varnish.
Lower corner:
Small crescent scratch in the emulsion margin; right edge tacky where the plate was handled before fully dry.
Inside flap:
Keep flat. If Mr. Pell calls, give only the sleeve and no register leaf.
Initials are overwritten at the fold.
Back, in a lighter pencil:
Mabel asked why a fogged plate needs a sleeve. Returned sleeve to drawer after the glass was taken upstairs.
