Brown registered cover, opened flat and pinned to a dead-letter backing sheet. The address panel reads:

The string seal is broken at the lower left. The flap gum has a pale tide line, as if softened and pressed down again. A clerk's blue pencil note beside the seal reads:

Across the inner wrapper, in a hand unlike the office stamp, is a narrow shelf mark:
