Tool-crib check board, east yard rail shop

Slate-backed crib board from beside the press-room door, with three brass tool tags hanging on fresh wire and old oil marks showing where the hooks used to sit.

Morning check, copied by S. Drow:

Tag 14 - crack lamp. Out to E.T. for blue-band look, 7:12. Returned before heat, glass warm and wick trimmed.

Tag 22 - rail caliper. Out under press-room call, 7:18. Returned by S.D. at 8:05.

Tag 31 - press key. Held at No. 4 until manager's bell. Not to be left on bench.

Board correction, in wax pencil:

Tags read back by holes, not by tools. 14 now hangs where the caliper hung last week. 22 is on the press-key nail. 31 is on the lamp nail. Do not copy the old order to the office list.

Loose paper strip tucked behind lower rail:

Keep the three checks together until the office matter is closed. If anyone asks why the lamp and caliper were both off the board before heat, say the board was being re-wired after the night shift.
