Night inspector's pocket slip, folded behind gauge case
Pencil slip from Elsie Trent's coat pocket, oil-dark along one edge and creased twice across the middle.
Press No. 4, same yoke as the blue-band card.
Left cheek carries old blue band, not fresh furnace color. Hairline at inner fork, visible under lamp when chalk is wiped back. Mark is fine enough to hide under scale unless the lamp is close.
Put hold tag on the piece before heat. Told S.D. not to clear the lamp until the office card was seen.
8:35 - J.V. at press. Says north siding set cannot wait. Told me to leave the card where the office could see it.
Office book later wants plain words: heat strain, flange burst, inspection incomplete. No line left for my tag note.
