Booke of Cyprian Hawys, goldsmith of Lyn, anno xxx Henry VIII
A single quarto leaf, paper, the recto in iron-gall ink in the hand of Cyprian Hawys throughout, the verso blank. Folded once and laid between the boards of a Lyn parish-register of 1782 at the binder's work; recovered in 1903 and catalogued at the Norwich Record Office as NRO/MS 1903.144/13. The day-booke is otherwise lost. This leaf records two entries, two days, one ingot.

This v day of Maye in the xxx yere of the reigne of our soverayn Lord Kyng Henry the Eight, oure Lady's day in the morning.
Item. Comen to me a gentlewoman of Cromer, no name yelden, with foure unc. & two dwt. of small plate, viz: a bolle, a fote, a lid, & a smalle chayne; the assay sterling, the metal sounde. Receved into the workshop & melted the same day. Paied her in coin xx s. iiij d., the matter being privie. Not entred at the touche.
Item. The next day, comen to me my brother Robart Hawys of Cromer for a smalle ringe of two dwt. for his wyfe, paied in workmanship iij s. iiij d. The metal of yesterday, no question made.
