Excerpt from Officer E. Reilly's personal carbon of the Jarzembek scene report (the "reviewed" version was filed without these observations on 17 Oct 1923):
1. Body orientation east-west, perpendicular to stair line. Inconsistent with a fall from the staircase. 2. Brass candlestick on hall side table the only object wiped clean in the hallway; circular clean patch suggests recent fingerprint wipe. 3. Dark green wool scarf on hall bench not belonging to Father Jarzembek (he owned three black ones). 4. Side door ajar ~4 inches, not forced (suggests unseen visitor entered or exited that way). 5. Desk drawer partially open, though Kamiński said Father was ordinarily meticulous.
[Reilly pencil annotation: "Typed original given to Det. Ostermann 15 Oct. A reviewed version was filed two days later. Observations 1,2,3, and 5 were omitted. I have kept this carbon. — E.R."]
[Pencil note added 16 Oct: "Det. Ostermann interviewed me at the station. He asked me to put my carbon away and 'not make work for the department. ' He thanked me for my 'care.' I understood."]
