YEAR ITEM FOLDER
==============================================================================
1898 Reddick general retainer memoranda, 1898-1902 F-01
1903 Hume Shipping: captain/crew compensation schedule, F-02
preliminary draft; rejected by Mr. Reddick as too low.
1908 Hume Shipping: captain/crew compensation schedule, F-03
FINAL version (approved for Company internal use).
[REFERENCED in my work for Mr. R. but the original is
the Company's internal document; my carbon is of the
cover memorandum only. The schedule itself was not
typed by me — it was typed in the Company offices
         by R. Standard's then-clerk.]
1908 Hume Shipping: retainer renewal, Mr. Reddick. F-04
1910 Hume family: small conveyance, Aldenhaven cottage F-05
        (minor adjustment to property line).
1912 Hume Shipping: IPHIGENIA matter — F-06
        — 12 Dec 1912, memorandum by Mr. R. to himself re
settlement policy; pencil note to self: "do not
cite 1908 schedule in any correspondence to widows
          or claimants."
        — 14 Dec 1912, private letter Mr. Hume to Mr. R.
(dictated by Mr. R. from memory following his meeting
with Mr. Hume — Mr. R. dictates to me what he wishes
to remember of oral conversations, a habit of his).
        — 1-30 Jan 1913, various drafts of inquest preparation
testimony for Mr. Fazackerley and for Captain's
mother's attendance at service (Mr. R. prepared
          several versions).
        — 17 Feb 1913, letter Mr. R. to Mr. Hume re. "matter
          of Miss Z.M.'s continued activity."
        — 4 Mar 1913, letter Mr. R. to Mr. Hume re. "Mr. T.
          in San Francisco."
                                                        [all F-06]
1914 Hume Shipping: retainer renewal. F-07
1914 [no significant single-matter work.]
1915 Westbrook estate: will for D. Westbrook, updated. F-08
1916 Hume Shipping: wartime munitions contract, Cadenza. F-09
1918 Westbrook estate: codicil for D. Westbrook (added
provision for his daughter Harriet's independent
correspondence and salary through the Beacon). F-10
1918 Hume family: trust revisions (Mr. Hume personal) —
        minor. F-11
1919 THORPE — 22 Sep 1919, Mr. R. met with Mrs. Thorpe
(Ottilie) at her residence re. emergency trust
revision. Mr. R. dictated the memorandum upon return.
Revision was drafted by the 29th and executed on the
2d of October, with Mr. R.'s counterpart at Blackwell
        (Mr. Huntleigh) concurring.
[THIS ITEM is the most substantial item I have ever
typed for Mr. R. in a single week. Mrs. Thorpe's
instructions were notable for their precision. Mr.
         R. was moved by her composure. I typed his memoran-
dum of the meeting without corrections; it ran to
         nineteen pages.] F-12
1920 Hume Shipping: retainer renewal. F-13
1920 [Mr. R. spent substantial time in 1920 on Mr. Hume's
personal matters, for which I typed little; the work
appears to have been done largely by Mr. R. alone
in handwritten correspondence. I note its absence.]
1921 Westbrook estate: probate of D. Westbrook's estate
(he having died March 1921); distribution of trust
assets per the 1918 codicil. F-14
1922 Hume Shipping: retainer renewal. F-15
1922 [minor matters, routine.]

[at the foot, in pencil:]

"I do not know what will become of this cabinet upon my death. I have not decided. My nephew Walter, who is a decent young man in Rochester, will not know what he is looking at if it falls to him. I will think further. Perhaps Miss Pellman at the Beacon, who has been kind to me in small matters. Perhaps Mrs. Harriss. I have a little time. I am fifty. I shall consider over the winter. — H.C., Oct 1922."
