Routing slip retained with the secretary’s carbon

Walker Hall, Department of Chemistry. 9 October 1957. Half sheet, typed; lower edge perforated. Found folded around a carbon copy of Walter Janik’s statement.

Dr. Morley —

Mr. Janik brought the attached before the morning post. I have made two copies. Please initial the office copy on receipt. The other is for Miss Galt, as the notebook is hers.

D. Steed

Below, in pencil:

Dorothy — This should not go into the general correspondence. Please make a separate folder. No heading naming a student until I have finished speaking with everyone concerned. V.M.

The following is typed on the reverse:

Folder opened under LABORATORY — MISSING PROPERTY.

The carbon was faint at the drawer number. Mr. Janik came back at eleven and supplied it. He asked whether he should sign again. I told him the first signature would do.

Miss Galt collected her copy at eleven twenty. She asked whether there was a form she should fill in to report the loss. I gave her the stores form. It asks for the purchase price and the department account to be charged.

She put down thirty-nine cents. Then she asked for another form.

There is no other form in this office.

At the foot, in blue ink:

Receipt initial still outstanding. D.M.S., 10 Oct.
