An Inventorie of the Plate &c. of the late Priorie of S. Helene in Wenlock-by-Severne
taken vpon the visitacion of Mr Iohn Carleton, gent., commissarie of the Court of Augmentaciouns, this xiijth day of May in the xxxth yere of our soueraigne lord king Henry the viijth.
Present: the Prioresse, Dame Ioan Beaufitz; the Subprioresse and Sacristane, Sister Audrey Hooke; the said Mr Carleton; his clerke Iohn Wace.
The plate, set out vpon the high altar to be tolde:
- i. one chalice of siluer, parcel-gilt, with a paten thereto; weight by the priorie booke xij oz. iiij dwt.
- ii. one other chalice of siluer, ungilt, with paten of latten; weight viij oz.
- iii. one pyx of siluer-gilt, the case wanting.
- iv. ij cruets of siluer for wyne and water, marked with the letter H.
- v. one censer of siluer with iiij chaynes, lacking one bell.
- vi. one pax of siluer-gilt, the panel a Pietà.
- vij. one paire of candelstickes of siluer; weight by booke xxij oz.

- ix. one ciborium of siluer with cover, the cover gilte within.
- x. sundrie spoones of siluer, vij in number, the bowles worn.
- xi. one little crosse of siluer for the hand of the dyinge.
- xii. ij tabernacles of siluer for relicques; the relicques wanting in both.

Item viij. The cuppe of siluer and gilte geuen by Dame Margerie FitzHardy in the secunde yere of king Henry the iiijth, hauing a knop in the fote wherein is reported to be sett a peece of the holy Roode; weight by the priorie booke xviij oz. iij dwt. — quaesitum est, ter; non inuentum.
The Prioresse sayth shee tooke it not. The Sacristane sayth shee tooke it not. The Prioresse hath the one key. The Sacristane hath the other. The presse was found locked, and was opened in our presence with both keyes.
